Job summary

Scientific Protein Laboratories, located near Madison in Waunakee, WI, is seeking an Automation Engineer to develop, test, and maintain PLC and HMI programs for production and utility systems in a cGMP environment. You will work with Rockwell platforms (ControlLogix/CompactLogix, PlantPAx) and FactoryTalk View SE, ensuring data integrity and compliance with FDA Part 11.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in industrial automation or related field required.
• 3+ years of hands-on PLC and HMI programming with Rockwell platforms.
• Experience in cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing and FDA Part 11.
• Familiarity with ISA-88 batch control standards and change control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC programs using Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix in a cGMP environment.
• Design, program, and maintain HMI applications using FactoryTalk View SE with data integrity in mind.
• Program and maintain PlantPAx DCS applications following ISA-88 standards.
• Create and maintain revision-controlled documentation including specs, code comments, and change logs.
• Document automation work activities and troubleshooting in the CMMS (Fiix).
• Assist with validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and change control procedures.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality & Engineering to optimize automation and support capital projects.
• Maintain version control of PLC/HMI programs and develop reusable templates.
• Support maintenance staff with technical documentation and troubleshooting guides.
