Job Title: Pharmacy Floor Technician

Job Description

The Pharmacy Floor Technician plays a key role in a specialty mail order pharmacy environment by accurately filling, labeling, scanning, and preparing prescription medications for final verification by a pharmacist. This position supports daily drug order fulfillment, prepacking frequently ordered medications, and maintaining workstation organization to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

• Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring timely completion of all prescriptions.
• Pick medications from shelving, prepack racks, and other medication storage areas to fulfill prescription orders.
• Label and scan finished prescriptions, including applying labels to blister cards and scanning products to verify accuracy prior to pharmacist review.
• Alert the pharmacist on duty to any medication or product that does not scan properly or appears incorrect.
• Assist in processing returned drugs, including recycling or disposing of medications according to established procedures.
• Prepack frequently ordered medications, label, and store them as needed during low-volume periods to support efficient workflow.
• Package materials and products manually in accordance with pharmacy standards and procedures.
• Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean and organized manner and replenish stock supplies as needed.
• Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code at all times.
• Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to support pharmacy operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy fulfillment and overall operations.

Essential Skills

• Possess and maintain a clear and active Texas Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

• Fundamental pharmacy technician skills in a fulfillment or mail order setting.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures.
• Attention to detail for accurate labeling, scanning, and preparation of prescriptions.
• Basic computer and scanning skills to operate pharmacy systems and equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous pharmacy technician experience, preferably in a fulfillment or specialty medications environment.
• Experience working in a specialty mail order pharmacy or similar high-volume pharmacy setting.
• Familiarity with Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations and standards.
• Comfort working with specialty medications and prescription fulfillment workflows.
• Strong organizational skills to manage workstation inventory and supplies.
• Reliability and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a specialty mail order pharmacy environment focused on fulfillment of prescription and specialty medications. The schedule typically consists of five 8-hour shifts per week, including weekdays and two to three weekends per month. Available shifts include 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The work involves standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and walking intermittently throughout the day, with the possibility of sitting or standing for 7 to 10 hours per day. Extended hours may be necessary based on operational needs. The position requires finger dexterity to operate office and pharmacy equipment, the ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion, and sufficient visual acuity to read fine print, including close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Normal hearing is required to communicate effectively in the pharmacy setting. Team members are expected to comply with all safety policies and dress code requirements while working in a professional, regulated pharmacy environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tyler, TX.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
