Job summary

Tabula seeks a hands-on Scientist to advance our wet-lab capabilities in synthetic phage engineering. You will perform molecular biology and cloning tasks, design and test engineered phage variants, and run host-phage assays in a fast-moving research environment.

You will work with the lab team in the San Francisco Bay Area and Madison, collaborating with computational colleagues in San Francisco to power a learning loop between wet-lab results and model development.

Qualifications

• Hands-on bench scientist with recent lab experience in wet-lab settings.
• Experience with phage engineering or phage biology is a plus.
• Strong focus on data quality and experimental troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Run core molecular biology and synthetic biology workflows related to phage engineering.
• Construct, assemble, and test engineered phage variants.
• Execute host-phage assays with attention to data quality.
• Troubleshoot failures in constructs, assays and protocols.
• Generate clean, useful experimental data that informs model development and research direction.
• Collaborate with a small lab team and broader company, including computational colleagues in SF.
