Job description

A postdoctoral research position is available for bacteriophage engineering and cell free bacteriophage synthesis. The Sandoval laboratory in the Dept. of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Tulane University is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to help develop next generation tools at the intersection of bacteriophage engineering and cell free manufacturing as part of a multi-institution collaboration.

The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in designing improved cell free bacteriophage manufacturing platforms for non-model phage & bacteria.

Responsibilities

Bacteria and bacteriophage culturing and genetic engineering

Performing and optimizing cell free TXTL reactions

Identifying biological and biochemical bottlenecks limiting efficiency

Generating data to inform and implement iterative improvements in the DBTL cycle

Participating in early stage translational efforts

Aiding in the generation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

The role is full time on site in New Orleans, LA on the Tulane uptown campus.

Qualifications

Required

PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Microbiology, Biomolecular Sciences, or related field

Strong communication skills (both oral and written)

Hands-on experience with cell free transcription/translation reactions

Preferred

Experience with bioinformatic tools

Experience with DNA cloning techniques

Experience with bacteriophage cultivation and propagation
