Job summary

Pet Zoo Alaska is seeking help to support our warehousing functions at our Palmer store. The role involves assisting customers during carry-out, picking and processing transfers, stocking shelves, and ensuring inventory accuracy.

Applicants should have at least 6 months of computer experience and be comfortable using MS Office and handheld scanners. The position requires lifting heavy items and working varied hours, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months experience with computers; able to understand MS Office Suite programs and type.
• Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete documentation.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment and handheld devices.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with customers during carry-out and assist in warehouse processes.
• Accurately pick, stack, wrap, and process transfers and outgoing product.
• Understand inventory control procedures and record product information accurately.
• Manage load-out procedures to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas reflecting company standards.
• Stock the sales floor, price merchandise, and rotate backstock.
• Receive product accurately via line-item receiver/scanner.
• Process inter-company freight transfers for locations.
• Perform tasks as assigned by managers.

Pet Zoo Alaska is looking for an individual who would like to support our warehousing functions at our retail store in Palmer.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Build relationships with customers during the carry‑out process by offering prompt, accurate service while following carry‑out procedures in the warehouse.
• Accurately pick, stack, wrap, and process transfers and all outgoing product.
• Understand inventory control procedures and accurately record product information as required.
• Efficiently manage the load‑out procedures to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Ensure self and work environment are properly maintained, reflecting company standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Stock the sales floor, price merchandise, and promptly put away backstock, ensuring proper rotation in all areas.
• Dust and clean assigned areas.
• Process inter‑company freight transfers for locations.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager.
• Accurately receive product following scanning procedures with clear understanding of procedures for overages, shortages, and damaged product.
• Receive all incoming product accurately via line‑item receiver/handheld scanner.

Salary

$17.00/hour + DOE

Experience and Education

• At least 6 months experience with computers; able to understand MS Office Suite programs and type.

Requirements

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the warehouse, which entails lifting at least 50–100 lbs regularly, and perform all functions as set forth above.
• Able to work indoor and/or outdoor as needed, even in inclement weather.
• Able to work with hay, straw, and other farm products.
• Able to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
