Job summary

R.W. Mercer Co. is seeking a Petroleum Construction Laborer to support installation of piping, concrete, and related site tasks at job locations in Michigan and Indiana.

The role involves assisting Excavation and Heavy Equipment Operators and learning trade skills on live projects. You will report to the foreman, perform manual labor, trench and lay water/fuel piping, and help maintain a safe, organized job site while supporting carpenters, pipefitters, and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Must be capable of strenuous manual labor.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Reports to shop at start of shift for daily assignments and works with minimal supervision.
• Performs tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
• Prepares surfaces and assists with trenching and pipe/conduit laying.
• Excavates, fills trenches, and organizes materials.
• Maintains a clean job site and secures tools and equipment daily.
• Performs site cleanup, loads/unloads materials, and handles inventory.
• Follows safety procedures and communicates issues to foreman or HR.
