Job summary

Petco is hiring a Pet Stylist to deliver expert grooming services for our customers’ pets, including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, and styling. You will ensure safety and comfort, while providing excellent customer service and adoption of best practices.

The role requires skills in breed-standard grooming, strong communication with pet parents, and the ability to work weekends or evenings as needed. Petco offers competitive pay and broad benefits in a dynamic grooming salon environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or equivalent grooming training.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to follow breed standards and grooming guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, under supervision.
• Operate and maintain grooming tools such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes and dryers.
• Prioritize pet safety and well-being; monitor for discomfort or injury and report concerns.
• Assess each pet’s needs based on coat type, skin conditions, and temperament.
• Interact professionally with pet parents; provide grooming recommendations and timely answers to questions.
• Educate pet parents on grooming maintenance and at-home care to promote well-being.
• Keep grooming area clean and sanitized; follow hygiene policies and daily/weekly tasks.
• Adhere to Grooming policies and standards for consistency and safety.
• May train or supervise entry-level trainees when the Grooming Salon Leader is absent.
