Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a passionate Pet Stylist to provide expert grooming services for our clients' pets. You will bathe, dry, brush, cut and style coats, trim nails, and clean ears, while ensuring the safety and comfort of every animal.

Qualifications

• Pet Stylist Apprentice program completion or grooming experience required.
• High school Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Strong attention to detail and care for animals.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming: bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, gland cleaning.
• Operate grooming tools: clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers.
• Prioritize animal safety and well-being; report concerns to owners/store management.
• Interact with pet parents; provide grooming recommendations and customer service.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized grooming area following hygiene policies.
• May train/supervise entry-level trainees when needed.

Education

Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program

High‑school diploma or GED preferred

Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving

Results‑driven with commitment to productivity

Strong attention to detail

Genuine passion for animals

Expert knowledge of dog breeds and grooming requirements

Proficiency in breed-specific cuts and grooming standards

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments

Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
