Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Pet Stylist to provide expert grooming services for our clients' pets. You will bathe, trim, and style, while ensuring safety and high-quality care. The role emphasizes customer service, animal welfare, and adherence to grooming standards.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
• Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving with guidance when necessary
• Results-driven with commitment to productivity and ownership of role in the grooming salon
• Strong attention to detail and quality grooming standards
• Genuine passion for animals and desire to grow in grooming career
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements and behaviors
• Proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques and standards
• Strong verbal and written communication for interactions with pet parents and team
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments; weekend/evening/holiday work as required

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers
• Prioritize safety and well-being of animals and communicate with pet parents
• Evaluate each pet’s needs based on coat type, skin conditions, and temperament
• Interact professionally with pet parents and provide grooming recommendations
• Educate owners on grooming maintenance and at-home care
• Keep the grooming area clean and safe, sanitize tools, and follow hygiene policies
• Adhere to Petco policies and grooming standards across activities and areas
• Train, support, and supervise entry-level trainees when needed
