The Groomer is a commission-based position within the Resort and reports directly to the General Manager. A successful candidate will embrace this culture, be a team player, self-motivated, take direction well, possess excellent communication skills, and have great attention to detail. This is a service industry role requiring customer service skills and a passion for helping people. Candidates should have grooming or bathing experience with all breeds of dogs and cats. The primary responsibility is to ensure pets receive a professional-quality groom that meets or exceeds client requests without compromising their physical and emotional health.

A Day In The Life

This role is vital to our pets and their owners. You make them feel special! You help keep pets healthy through grooming, working on reservations, walk-ins, and boarding guests. Tasks include full grooms, baths, touch-ups, and emergency clean-ups. You will interact with pets and their owners, document observations, and may identify health issues. Expect to get fur on you, handle some messes, and receive lots of kisses!

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive, gentle, and safe grooming experience for pets.
• Complete grooms/baths per client specifications and on schedule.
• Schedule appointments, set up new clients, and discuss vaccination protocols.
• Meet with clients post-groom to discuss results and suggest additional services.
• Respond promptly to calls and emails, reschedule as needed to grow your business.
• Maintain grooming tools and equipment, notify management of supply needs.
• Follow sanitation standards, clean work areas, disinfect equipment regularly.
• Monitor pet health during grooming, report concerns.
• Ensure pets have water and bathroom breaks during long appointments.
• Follow safety procedures, especially with aggressive or escape-prone pets.
• Adhere to pricing guidelines, obtain approval for additional costs.
• Use proper pet identification and communicate with pet care staff.
• Handle laundry and collaborate with other departments as needed.

Team Qualities

• Passion for animals and understanding of animal behavior.
• Gentle handling, no forceful or aggressive techniques.
• Customer service skills, ability to handle difficult situations.
• Good communication, both written and oral.
• Ability to work sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 60 lbs.
• Reliable, punctual, flexible schedule including holidays and weekends.
• Work well in noisy or outdoor environments, tolerate bodily fluids.

Qualifications
