Job summary

Humane Society of Sarasota County is seeking a Pet Retention & Support Coordinator to lead community-based programs that keep pets with families. You’ll manage Rehome Assistance, the Community Pet Food Pantry, and the Community Cat Program, partnering with veterinary providers, volunteers, and local organizations to expand lifesaving impact.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of animal shelter experience, with supervisory exposure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for public-facing work.
• Fear Free handling experience required or strongly preferred.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and volunteer management systems.
• Ability to lift and move bags of supplies and assist with logistics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Pet Retention Programs (Rehome Assistance, Food Pantry, Community Cat).
• Support Community Cats through education, scheduling, and records.
• Keep the Pet Food Pantry running with inventory and access.
• Connect people with solutions and resources for pets and families.
• Develop and maintain community partnerships with veterinary providers, volunteers, and donors.
• Track program performance and report outcomes to leadership.
• Assist with grants and funding opportunities to sustain programs.
