Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Pet Stylist to provide professional grooming services and deliver high‑level customer satisfaction to pet parents. You will perform baths, trims, nails, and styling while ensuring pet safety and comfort in a busy grooming salon setting.

The role emphasizes strong breed knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to educate pet parents on home care and product usage. Weekend/evening availability is often required in this environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco.
• High school diploma or GED preferred (not required).
• Strong problem‑solving and independent judgment in routine to moderately complex grooming situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers.
• Prioritize pet safety and well‑being, monitoring for discomfort, illness, or injury and reporting concerns.
• Evaluate each pet’s needs considering coat type, skin conditions, and temperament.
• Interact professionally with pet parents, providing optimal customer service, answering inquiries, and offering grooming recommendations.
• Educate pet parents on at‑home grooming maintenance and product usage.
• Maintain a clean and safe grooming area, disinfecting tools and equipment, performing daily and weekly cleaning tasks per Petco hygiene policies.
• Assist with training, support, and supervision of entry‑level trainees when necessary.
