Job summary

Petco is seeking a professional Pet Stylist to provide expert grooming services for our customers' pets in a busy grooming salon. You will perform baths, cuts, trims, and related grooming tasks with a focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Qualified candidates have grooming training or background, strong animal care passion, and the ability to work weekends or evenings. You will collaborate with the grooming team and may train junior staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Pet Stylist Apprentice program or grooming training completed, or equivalent grooming experience.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to judge situations and solve routine grooming challenges with guidance.
• Results-driven mindset focusing on productivity and ownership of grooming tasks.
• Great attention to detail to ensure high grooming standards.
• Genuine passion for animals and ongoing career in grooming.
• Knowledge of breed-specific grooming requirements and health considerations.
• Proficiency in breed-related cuts and grooming techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication with pet parents and team.
• Weekend/evening/holiday availability as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services: bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, nail trimming, ear cleaning, gland cleaning.
• Operate and maintain grooming tools and equipment.
• Prioritize pet safety and well-being, monitor for discomfort or illness, and report concerns.
• Assess each pet's needs based on coat, skin, temperament, and breed standards.
• Provide excellent customer service and grooming recommendations to pet parents.
• Educate owners on at-home grooming maintenance and care.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized grooming area in line with policies.
• Follow grooming policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure quality and consistency.
• Assist, train, or supervise entry-level trainees when needed.
