Job summary

Petco is seeking a professional Pet Stylist to deliver expert grooming services and exceptional care for our customers' pets in a busy grooming salon. You will bathe, dry, trim and style dogs with attention to safety, cleanliness, and high standards.

The role emphasizes strong communication with pet parents, maintaining grooming equipment, and contributing to a positive, team-based salon environment. Weekend, evening shifts and a passion for animals are required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required.
• Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving in routine to moderately complex situations.
• Results-driven with commitment to productivity and ownership of the grooming role.
• Strong attention to detail and a genuine passion for animals.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, nail trimming, ear cleaning and gland cleaning.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, and dryers.
• Prioritize safety and well-being of pets and provide excellent customer service to pet parents.
• Educate pet parents on grooming maintenance and at-home care practices.
• Train, support, and supervise entry-level trainees when needed.
