The Groomer is a commission-based position within the Resort, reporting directly to the General Manager. The ideal candidate embraces this culture, is a team player, self-motivated, receptive to direction, communicates well, and pays close attention to detail. Experience grooming or bathing all breeds of dogs and cats is essential. The primary responsibility is to ensure each pet receives a professional-quality groom that meets or exceeds client requests, without compromising their physical and emotional well-being.

A Day In The Life

This role is vital to our pets and their owners. You will help keep pets healthy and happy by providing grooming, bathing, and occasional emergency services, interacting with pets and their owners, documenting observations, and maintaining a clean workspace. Expect to scoop, clean, and receive lots of affectionate kisses!

Responsibilities
  • Provide a positive grooming experience focused on compassion, safety, and comfort.
  • Complete grooms or baths according to client specifications and on schedule.
  • Coordinate scheduling and client communication, including setting up new clients and discussing vaccination protocols.
  • Discuss grooming instructions with clients, provide reports, and suggest additional services.
  • Respond promptly to calls and emails, reschedule appointments as needed, and resolve customer issues.
  • Maintain grooming tools and equipment, and notify management of supply needs.
  • Follow sanitation standards, including cleaning and disinfecting work areas and equipment.
  • Monitor pets' health during grooming, report concerns, and ensure they have water and bathroom breaks if with you for over two hours.
  • Handle guests safely, especially those with behavioral issues, and adhere to pricing guidelines with prior approval for additional costs.
  • Communicate effectively with pet care staff and identify pets correctly with grooming cards or name bands.
  • Manage laundry and collaborate with other departments as needed.
Team Qualities
  • Passion for animal care, especially dogs and cats, with a willingness to learn about animal behavior.
  • Gentle handling, avoiding forceful or aggressive techniques.
  • Customer service skills, including managing difficult situations and building trust.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and work in various physical conditions.
  • Conflict resolution, teamwork, reliability, punctuality, and flexibility, including working holidays and weekends.
  • Physical ability to handle dogs of all sizes, lift up to 60 lbs, and tolerate working in challenging environments.
Qualifications

Education: Professional grooming certifications preferred but not required.

Experience: 2-4 years of professional grooming experience preferred, with strong breed knowledge and scissoring skills.
