Job summary

Akumin is seeking a part-time PET/CT Technologist for our Porterville mobile team, with travel to Tracy and Modesto. You will ensure patient safety, acquire high-quality PET/CT images, and support multiple sites including freestanding centers and hospitals.

Responsibilities include pre-screening for contraindications, radiation safety, communicating with patients and radiologists, and training new staff. At least 1–2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience is preferred; NMTCB/ARRT(N) and CPR are

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Certification in Nuclear Medicine by NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
• State license as required; CPR certification.
• CPR certification and a valid state driver’s license.
• At least 1–2 years in Nuclear Medicine procedures is preferred.
• Strong customer service and multi-tasking skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety and radiation safety documentation.
• Produce high-quality PET/CT images.
• Communicate with patients, radiologists, and staff.
• Train new technologists and PC’s as needed.
• Troubleshoot scanner and peripheral equipment (monitors, PACS, coils).

This role offers the opportunity to travel and support our partner sites in Tracy and Modesto—ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work environment.Our PET/CT technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality PET/CT images/studies possible—enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. And, because our techs work in a variety of environments—a freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facility—their flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, etc. and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with radioactive materials/patients.Produces high quality diagnostic imagesEffectively communicates with customers and/or radiologistsTrains new technologists and/or PC'sTrouble-shoots the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).Position Requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent ExperienceCertification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N)State license, as required.CPR certificationAs applicable, valid state driver’s license.Ability to work at several locationsStrong customer service skills.Organizational and multi-tasking skills.Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.Preferred:Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies.At Akumin, we invest in the well-being of our employees, so you can bring your best self to work each day.
