Job summary

Job description

Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a PET/CT Technologist to support the Round Rock location. The position can be Level 1, Level 2, or Senior, based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Perform PET imaging procedures including preparation, patient positioning, image acquisition, reconstruction, and archiving.
  • Assist in scheduling and front‑office functions to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Ensure accuracy of patient demographic information and report distribution.
  • Collect clinical data for patient follow‑up and support development of teaching materials.
  • Provide protection for patients and self in accordance with safety standards; conduct daily quality control to monitor scanner performance.
  • Report malfunctions and service needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Manage patient data and film sets, including printing, archiving, retrieval, and data transfers.
  • Recognize contraindications to IV contrast, identify reactions, and follow appropriate procedures.
  • Order necessary office, medical, printing, and archiving media.
Qualifications

Level 1

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiologic Technology from an AMA‑accredited program and PET‑CT certification.
  • Three to five years of experience in nuclear medicine and/or prior PET experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of patient scheduling and billing systems.
  • CNMT or ARRT (N) certification and state licensure where applicable.

Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements)

  • Minimum five years of experience in nuclear medicine, with at least two years of prior PET or nuclear medical experience.

Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiologic Technology, or from an AMA‑accredited program.
  • Minimum four years of nuclear medical PET experience.

Physical Demands

Requires full range of body motion, ability to reach above shoulder height, seating/standing for extensive periods, and normal corrected vision and hearing.

Work Environment

Employees regularly encounter contact with patients, blood, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
