Qualifications

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for inventory and medication records.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work with care in a pet environment.
• Provide friendly customer service to citizens and pet owners under stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect cages, runs and yards using disinfectant.
• Feed, walk, exercise, and bathe animals.
• Monitor animals for abnormal activity and report to supervisors.
• Assist with handling aggressive or sick animals and assist clients with their pets.
• Administer medications and vaccinations as required.
• Occasionally assist with euthanasia events.
• Maintain charts for eating, drinking, and waste production.
• Keep kennels, cages, bedding, and facility clean and organized.
• Work daily with animals of varying sizes and temperaments in a safe, respectful manner.

Education

High School diploma or GED

One year experience in a veterinary office, kennel, shelter or similar environment preferred
