Job summary

Town and Country Animal Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS is seeking an experienced Kennel Assistant to join our team. This hands-on role supports boarding and hospitalized patients, including feeding, walking, cleaning, bathing, monitoring, and ensuring every pet feels safe and cared for.

You’ll work alongside CVTs, veterinary assistants, CSRs, and doctors in a busy hospital environment. Experience is preferred; weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Experience is required.
• Dependable, hardworking, and comfortable around animals.
• Weekend availability as required.
• Able to lift patients up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provides care for boarding and grooming patients.
• Admits patients with client instructions and notes contact/pick-up times.
• Records feeding, appearance, and behavior accurately.
• Monitors general physical condition and signs of illness.
• Handles patients safely and restrains difficult ones.
• Walks patients several times daily for exercise.
• Provides special food and fluids as needed.
• Ensures cages are clean and properly identified; stores belongings.
• Regularly cleans kennels and controls disease spread.
• Launders towels and blankets.
• Cleans hospital grounds and empties trash.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
