Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. seeks an Assistant Manager to lead a busy Pet Care Center, supporting the General Manager and guiding partners, pets, and customers daily. You’ll drive sales, coaching, and operational excellence on the floor while modelling Petco’s values.

You’ll mentor staff, ensure great customer experiences, and uphold animal care standards in a fast-paced retail environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail experience with supervisory or management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Passion for animals and knowledge of pet care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead store partners to deliver outstanding service and customer loyalty.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of staff.
• Provide timely coaching, feedback, and recognition to strengthen performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized store reflecting Petco’s brand and values.
• Drive sales, service, and operational goals from the sales floor.
• Monitor performance metrics and share results with the General Manager.
• Assist with inventory control, merchandising, and events.
• Step into leadership in the General Manager’s absence.
