Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Pest Controller to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The Pest Controller will perform routine pest control operations, ensure safe pesticide application and disposal, and adhere to strict safety and environmental guidelines.

Required are a high school diploma, 2+ years of pest control experience, and DoD Pesticide Applicator Certification; travel internationally and passport are necessary.

Amentum is seeking a Pest Controller to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Pest Controller is responsible for performing routine pest control operations, ensuring proper application and disposal of pesticides, and adhering to strict safety and environmental guidelines.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performing routine pest control operations in unoccupied spaces during Government regular working hours, except on Federal Government holidays or as otherwise scheduled.
  • Applying pesticides to effectively manage and control pest populations in a variety of environments while adhering to safety standards and pest control best practices.
  • Targeting pests in accordance with the project requirements and site-specific needs, using preventative, chemical, and non-chemical methods.
  • Ensuring all pesticides, rinse water, and containers are disposed of in accordance with pesticide label directions and local environmental regulations.
  • Disposing of any pesticides, pesticide containers, pesticide residue, or contaminated articles at authorized off-site disposal locations in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Maintaining an accurate record of pesticide usage, storage, and disposal.
  • Adhering to all safety and environmental standards for pesticide use, handling, and disposal methods.
  • Following strict protocols to ensure safe working conditions and prevent environmental contamination or exposure risks.
  • Inspecting work areas to identify potential pest-related problems and executing proper actions to resolve them.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in pest control operations, including safe handling and application of pesticides.
  • Current DoD Pesticide Applicator Certification in the applicable categories required to perform or supervise work under this contract. Copy of certification must be submitted 15 calendar days prior to start of work. Demonstrated understanding of pesticide usage, safety guidelines, and proper waste disposal techniques.
  • Knowledge of best practices for pest control in compliance with pesticide label guidelines, environmental regulations, and pest control policies.
  • Ability to work independently and schedule pest control tasks effectively during specified hours.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Valid country driver's license.

  • Experience conducting pest control operations on a large-scale property or installation.
