Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Golf Course Manager to oversee daily operations, maintenance, and the appearance of the Diego Garcia golf course for a US Navy program. The role requires coordinating grounds staff, managing irrigation and turf care, and enforcing safety and quality standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and a preferred bachelor’s in Turfgrass or related field, plus several years in golf course maintenance and supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agriculture, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in golf course maintenance, grounds maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Experience with irrigation systems, landscaping equipment, and turf management is highly desirable.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and supervise the daily operations of golf course maintenance and groundskeeping.
  • Receive, review, and assign maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Schedule and supervise maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion.
  • Oversee mowing, trimming, edging, fertilization, irrigation, landscaping, and general turf maintenance.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair golf course infrastructure, including cart paths, parking areas, sidewalks, bridges, bunkers, and course amenities.
  • Monitor and maintain irrigation and drainage systems to promote healthy turf conditions and prevent flooding or water damage.
  • Perform and oversee tree trimming, brush removal, weed control, and vegetation management to maintain course safety and appearance.
  • Coordinate erosion control and landscape improvement projects.
  • Ensure all maintenance equipment is inspected, serviced, repaired, and safely operated.
  • Train and supervise grounds maintenance staff on equipment operation, safety procedures, and best maintenance practices.
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, equipment, chemicals, fertilizers, and irrigation materials.
  • Track service requests and work orders through completion while maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly operation maintenance reports.
  • Support special events and tournaments by ensuring optimal course conditions.

Amentum is seeking a Golf Course Manager to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Golf Course Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and overall appearance of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This position plans, organizes, directs, and supervises golf course maintenance activities to ensure safe and playable course conditions while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • May be required to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and during special events or tournaments.
  • Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
