Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned Personnel Security Specialist to own the end-to-end security workload for cleared environments. You will manage clearance processing, indoctrinations, debriefings, onboarding and offboarding, and coordinate with government and customer security offices.

Responsibilities include maintaining audit-ready records in DISS/NBIS/eApp, guiding employees through security forms, and preparing visit authorizations and access packages (CAC/NIPR/SIPR/SAAR).

Qualifications

• Hands-on personnel security experience in cleared environments.
• Direct experience with clearance processing and onboarding/offboarding.
• Familiarity with DISS/NBIS/eApp and related systems.
• Understanding of NISPOM and government security requirements.
• Ability to manage high-volume case queues and deadlines.

• Experience with SCI/SAP access and security packages is a plus.

Job description

• Own the daily personnel security workload from intake through completion
• Manage clearance verification, access nominations, visit requests, onboarding, offboarding, briefings, and reporting actions
• Process and track personnel eligibility, classified access, indoctrinations, debriefings, customer approvals, and program-specific security requirements
• Maintain accurate, current, and audit-ready records in DISS, NBIS/eApp, NISS, internal tracking systems, and other government or customer platforms
• Guide employees through security forms, clearance and access requirements, required briefings, and reportable events while protecting sensitive personal information
• Coordinate personnel security actions with government security representatives, customer security offices, program teams, and internal partners
• Prepare and manage visit authorization requests, security access requests, and customer access packages, including CAC, NIPR, SIPR, and SAAR documentation when applicable
• Identify discrepancies, aging cases, missing documentation, potential security concerns, and reportable information; expedite sensitive or complex issues
• Maintain visibility into case ownership, status, deadlines, next steps, and government or customer dependencies
• Develop and improve checklists, standard operating procedures, templates, metrics, and workflows to reduce backlog, manual effort, and missed handoffs
• Support self-inspections, customer reviews, recurring reporting, and efforts to build a scalable personnel security program

Requirements

• Hands-on personnel security experience supporting a cleared defense contractor, Intelligence Community organization, federal customer, or comparable classified environment
• Direct experience managing clearance verification, access processing, indoctrinations, debriefings, visit requests, security briefings, and cleared-personnel onboarding or offboarding
• Working experience with DISS and NBIS/eApp
• Familiarity with NISS, SWFT, Scattered Castles, or customer-specific security systems is a plus
• Understanding of the NISPOM, applicable Security Executive Agent Directives, and government or customer personnel security requirements
• Ability to manage competing priorities, sensitive records, recurring deadlines, and a high-volume case queue accurately
• Clear and respectful communication when explaining complex requirements and supporting employees through sensitive processes
• Discretion with personal information and sound judgment regarding escalation to security leadership, Legal, People, or government security officials
• Experience improving operational reliability through documentation, metrics, templates, approved AI tools, agents, and automations while protecting sensitive information and preserving human review
• Experience supporting SCI or SAP access, customer-specific nominations, visit authorization requests, or related access packages
• Active Top Secret eligibility and current SCI access
• Ability to obtain and maintain any customer-required polygraph or additional access approvals
