Job description

Personnel Security Specialist

This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance and the ability to pass additional security checks by the US Department of Treasury.

The Personnel Security Specialist will assist with investigative and administrative actions to ensure all personnel requiring access to information are processed efficiently for the appropriate security clearance and/or SCI eligibility prior to granting access to Treasury information.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $100,000.00 to $110,000.00

Pay is commensurate with experience. Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change.

Responsibilities:
  • Schedule appointments and assist walk-ins for PIV activations, enrollments, certificate updates, and PIN resets.
  • Print and mail PIV credentials according to established procedures.
  • Process and verify access requests for Treasury facilities.
  • Assist with lock and key issuance.
  • Send daily appointment schedules to Access Control Unit staff and USSS.
  • Answer email inquiries related to PIV credentials and access control.
  • Track remote personnel credentialing requests.
  • Initiate and track background investigations and reinvestigations, ensuring completeness of security questionnaires via e-QIP.
  • Review investigation data, report discrepancies, and seek clarifications, especially regarding derogatory information affecting personnel security eligibility.
  • Provide guidance on personnel security investigations, regulations, and adjudicative guidelines to clients.
  • Maintain spreadsheets tracking case statuses for applicants, contractors, and employees.
  • Assess and determine the sensitivity and risk levels of positions, applying relevant regulations and management directives.
  • Manage security records, including data entry, document handling, storage, and destruction.
  • Assist with security indoctrinations for Treasury personnel.
  • Develop and review onboarding and offboarding administrative procedures.
  • Report potential derogatory information immediately to the Government Program Manager.
Experience, Education, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • OPM Essentials of Suitability Adjudication certification preferred.
  • Desired certifications include Personnel Security Adjudication (e.g., DoD, ODNI), Due Process Adjudication (e.g., DoD, CDSE, ODNI), and Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
  • Experience with HSPD-12 PIV card operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in due process and report writing.
  • Must pass pre-employment screening by Cherokee Federal.
