The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is looking for passionate health and fitness professionals to join our team at the Thomas E. Hannah and Willis Road YMCA branches.
Consistent with the Christian Mission and Vision of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, and in cooperation with our other YMCA branch staff, the Personal Trainer is responsible for serving members in the areas of health and fitness. This person will have the advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully work one-on-one and in small groups with clients desiring a program tailored to meet their specific needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations; greet and acknowledge all members to encourage wellness participation.
• Build relationships with members and assisting members with the safe and effective operation of all cardiovascular and strength equipment.
• Demonstrate proper form, technique and body alignment on all equipment as instructed by Wellness Director.
• Partner with personal training clients and members to develop a shared understanding of goals and expectations, and develop personalized fitness programming to align with these concepts
• Ensure proper administrative responsibilities are followed to document sessions with clients.
• Provide comprehensive fitness assessments for members and clients
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Stay up to date on required certifications and continuing education credits.
• Demonstrate a sincere desire to improve the health and wellness of YMCA members and surrounding communities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate's Degree in Exercise Related Field and/or equivalent health experience
• Current CPT certification from either ACSM, NSCA, ACE or NASM
• 2+ years of personal training experience (Preferred)
• Must hold a current CPR/AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and BBP certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent member service skills.
• Excellent knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, & physiology.
• Marketing and sales ability.
• Ability to perform under stress and reach deadlines.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Personal passion for health and fitness.
