General Function:
Under the supervision of the designated manager and aligned with the YMCA's mission and policies, the Personal Trainer develops and implements safe, enjoyable, and personalized exercise programs for clients. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality service, welcoming, connecting, supporting, and engaging members, guests, and staff.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- At least 6 months of experience in the wellness industry.
- Possession of a nationally recognized Personal Training certification from ACSM, NSCA, AFFAA, ACE, The Cooper Institute, IFPA, NASM, or NESTA.
- Specialty II/Level 1: Certification and 6 months training experience.
- Specialty II/Level 2: Certification and 2-4 years of experience.
- Specialty II/Level 3: Certification and 6+ years of experience.
- Complete YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles and Foundations of Strength and Conditioning within 6 months of employment.
- CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification.
- Complete and maintain required trainings including NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, and Sexual Harassment annually.
- Successful background checks and Child Protective Services screening.
Essential Functions:
- Support YMCA's mission, vision, and goals.
- Promote a culture of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Lead programs that strengthen community through youth development, health, and social responsibility.
- Design personalized, safe programs based on participant needs and goals.
- Instruct proper form and technique.
- Maintain accurate client records.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
- Adhere to department standards.
- Wear appropriate staff attire and name tags.
- Lead in emergencies and report incidents per protocols.
- Perform additional duties to ensure excellent member experiences.

- Respond effectively to inquiries and complaints.

- Respond to emergency situations appropriately.
- Perform physically demanding activities.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
