POSITION SUMMARY

The Personal Trainer supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part‑time position supports the Wellness team by developing clients through integrated, quality exercise programs specific to the individual’s needs and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develops and coaches session content appropriate to clients’ abilities; utilizes appropriate tools necessary to offer quality training; and provides feedback to clients and proper instruction in use of equipment.
  • Maintains a minimum of 5 clients.
  • Facilitates learning through multi‑level instruction; auditory cues, visual demonstrations, appropriate tactile assistance; incorporates a variety of training methods and applications to accommodate learning styles.
  • Provides a safe and caring environment for all clients; supports goal progression and healthy behavior modification through proven training resources within the scope of practice.
  • Prepares for training sessions including preparing plans, organizing relative equipment, etc. May be required to set‑up and break‑down materials and equipment used for instruction.
  • Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well‑being.
  • Administers and evaluates all appropriate pre‑participation documentation. Track client progress and maintain appropriate documentation in client files and payroll software.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current NASM/ACSM/NSCA/ACE certified Personal Trainer certification required.
  • CPR Certified - Will be provided by the YMCA upon hire if needed.
  • Previous Personal Trainer experience preferred, especially with Health Seeker and Active Older Adult populations.
  • Internal training completed within 45 days of hire.
SALARY

Minimum hourly rates of $23 for individual sessions and $28 for group sessions. Starting rates based on experience and additional certification.

SCHEDULE

Part‑time. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekends.
