Overview
Under the direction of the Assistant General Manager of Fitness, the Professional Fitness Trainer evaluates client status and delivers safe, professional exercise routines tailored to the client to help them achieve fitness goals. The trainer is responsible for meeting the personal revenue target of at least 40 private training sessions per month while providing excellent customer service and hospitality to all members and guests.
Responsibilities
- Meet minimum private training sales of 40 sessions per month, maintaining positive client retention.
- Provide new member fitness consultations and evaluations.
- Develop individualized exercise programs based on client abilities, health, and goals.
- Be punctual for all scheduled appointments.
- Maintain accurate, current records of all client exercise programs and progress.
- Track each client’s training sessions and fee payments.
- Enforce all fitness center and club policies.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and marketing of innovative private and group private fitness trainer programs.
- Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the fitness center.
- Accurately record daily work, actual time worked, and client sessions in the appropriate tracking system.
- Actively participate in meetings and training programs, attending club-sponsored developmental or educational seminars and programs.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- ACSM-HFS, NSCA-CSCS, ACE-PT, NASM or an acceptable national certification is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
- Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification required (Red Cross or American Heart Association).
- 1-2 years of experience in a health club environment preferred.
- Experience in marketing and promotions preferred.
- Nutrition education preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Sales and marketing knowledge, including strategies, tactics, and sales techniques.
- Problem anticipation and deductive reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions.
- Excellent written comprehension and expression.
- Excellent oral comprehension and expression.
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and other required software, including creating tracking and report forms.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Regular contact with clients via in-person, phone, and email.
- Position location changes frequently between indoors and outdoors; extreme environmental conditions are not present.
- Ability to handle unpleasant or angry clients with problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability to a frequently changing environment.
- Occasional sitting and standing as needed.
- Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Estimated Base Pay Range
$22 - $25 per hour
