Job summary

The Bay Club Company is seeking a Professional Fitness Trainer in San Francisco to evaluate client status and deliver client-centered exercise routines that help clients reach their goals. You will also drive personal revenue goals while delivering excellent service to members and guests.

This full-time role requires maintaining CPR/AED certification, managing records of client programs, and developing private and group PFT programs.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Assistant General Manager of Fitness, the Professional Fitness Trainer provides evaluation of client status and delivers safe and professional exercise routines that are client‑based to help clients achieve fitness goals. Responsibilities include achieving personal revenue goals each month while providing excellent customer service and hospitality to all members and guests.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Must meet minimum private training sales of 40 sessions per month and maintain positive client retention
  • Provide new member fitness consultations and evaluations

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, and sales techniques.
  • Problem Anticipation / Deductive Reasoning — Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Written Comprehension and Expression — Ability to read, understand and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Oral Comprehension and Expression — Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information.
  • Computer — Ability to develop and maintain computer records in Word, Excel and other software required by TBCC and regulatory agencies. Ability to develop tracking and report forms in Word and Excel as needed.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and abilities.
  • Personal training certification or Degree in Health and Fitness.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This position deals with outside personnel such as clients on a regular basis with contact in various forms such as in person, phone and email.
  • The location of the position changes frequently from indoors to outdoors as site visits are necessary. However, extreme environmental conditions do not exist.
  • It is sometimes necessary to deal with unpleasant or angry people with the need to problem solve difficult situations.
  • It is necessary to adapt to a frequently changing environment.
  • Sitting and standing is as needed.
  • Use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasional lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Offered to Full‑Time associates. Full‑Time status eligibility starting at 25 average hours of work per week.
