First Chicago Insurance Company seeks an Underwriting Supervisor to lead the Personal Lines Underwriting team, ensuring quality and timeliness. The role involves reviewing exceptions and applying established underwriting rules, while scheduling and prioritizing work for optimum productivity.

The position emphasizes leadership, training, and strong communication to mentor staff and coordinate with Actuarial, Claims, Accounting and HR on operations at the branch level.

Qualifications

• Insurance industry experience.
• 3+ years of underwriting experience.
• Solid knowledge of technical underwriting.
• Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policy and procedures.
• Possess leadership, training and development abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• On-Site position.

Responsibilities

• Identify training needs and assist in designing training programs for department and employees
• Monitor and report on processing and phone performance standards for each employee
• Perform monthly assigned number of underwriting and processing audits for each employee
• Provide input for performance appraisals on processing, underwriting quality and quantity
• Provide input for any processing or underwriting related performance issues
• Develop positive and productive relationships with Independent Producers
• Mentor and guide Underwriting staff
• Coordinates efforts with the internal business partners in the areas of Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Accounting, and Human Resources to ensure operational efficiencies at the branch level
• Continuously logged into the Personal Lines ACD (last in queue)
• May perform additional duties as assigned
