Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience as Underwriter 1.
• Strong knowledge of insurance and underwriting philosophy.
• Fully trained on all lines of business assigned agencies may write.
• Ability to make independent decisions and communicate clearly.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to train others and develop training materials.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance positive relationships with agency staff.
• Create, execute, and maintain a streamlined underwriting experience for agency partners.
• Coordinate quoting and presentation of new business and renewal proposals.
• Ensure proper underwriting process and communication with agencies.
• Visit agency partners as required.
• Evaluate exposure to loss and obtain necessary information.
• Make independent risk decisions within company policies and guidelines.
• Cross-sell other coverages to assist in agency growth.
• Provide guidance to agents and CSRs on policy features and coverages.
• Underwrite more complex exposures.
• Provide service with a positive attitude.
• Assist with training of associates and mentoring junior staff.
• Maintain punctual attendance at approved work location.
