Job summary

Thompson Law is a premier personal injury firm in Houston seeking a Litigation Attorney to own a personal injury docket in our Houston office. This role involves taking depositions, arguing motions, and trying cases with senior trial lawyers mentoring you.

You will manage cases from filing through resolution, with support from skilled paralegals and staff to handle administrative load; a real courtroom focus awaits you.

Qualifications

• Texas license to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• 3-8 years of legal experience with at least 2 years of active litigation experience; personal injury litigation preferred.
• Solid command of Texas civil procedure and evidence; hands-on pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motions.
• Willingness to try cases; prior trial experience a plus but not required.
• Ability to manage a robust docket, meet deadlines, and keep files trial-ready.
• Clear and persuasive communication with clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, and judges.
• Proficiency with legal research databases, case management software, and modern litigation tech including AI tools.
• Desire to advocate for injured people and maximize recoveries; engaging and committed to clients

Responsibilities

• Own a personal injury docket and develop liability, coverage, and damages theories from filing to resolution.
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests, and motions; take/defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, and treating physicians.
• Collaborate with medical records specialists to understand injuries and translate into damages models.
• Lead or co-lead jury trials, hearings, and dispositive motions; participate in mediations as needed.
• Value cases, prepare demand packages, and negotiate with adjusters and defense counsel.
• Direct and support assigned litigation paralegals and assistants, ensuring trial readiness.
• Advise clients on strategy, progress, and settlement/trial decisions with clarity and compassion.
• Learn from senior trial attorneys and contribute to Texas-wide litigation approaches
