  • Ability to obtain favorable adjudication and pass OCI disclosures.
  • Must hold AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification.

Title: Personal Financial Counselor, PFC

Grade: 24

Locations: Multiple locations – Onsite Opportunities

Overview

This position provides personal financial counseling services at assigned military installations. The counselor delivers a full range of financial counseling services to service members and their families, including education, briefings, presentations, and referrals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
  • Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
  • Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, career events).
  • Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure online chat, video).
  • Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information on trends and issues.
  • Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. An associate degree with 4 years of experience or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience may also be considered.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and fluent English (bilingual in English and Spanish if required by the contract).
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation and to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. The position may also be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
