Overview

This position provides short‑term, surge, and on‑demand coverage to meet military financial counseling needs, including post‑deployment events and coverage for absent counselors. The primary role involves delivering comprehensive personal financial counseling to service members and their families at military installations.

Responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, and presentations, and refer participants to external resources as needed.
• Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and other career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34).
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication methods (web‑based, secure online chat, video teleconference) as authorized by OSD FINRED Program office.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues on the installation.
• Attend regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; an associate degree plus four years of experience or a high school diploma plus six years of experience may also be considered.
• Minimum of three years' financial counseling experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required if specified by the contract.
• Must obtain a tier‑2 adjudicated security clearance and complete the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 (based on national data; may vary by location and qualifications). The position may qualify for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
