Magellan Health in Bellevue, NE seeks a Senior Financial Counselor to provide short‑term, surge, and on‑demand counseling to service members and families at military installations.

You will deliver comprehensive financial counseling, run classes, coordinate with leadership, and use virtual tools to reach personnel. A Bachelor's degree and AFC/CFP/ChFC certification plus 3+ years' experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent combos may be considered.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • US citizenship; fluent English.
  • Ability to obtain Tier 2 clearance.
  • Must hold AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification.

Job description

Position Summary
Provide short‑term, surge, and on‑demand coverage to support military service members and their families. Deliver full‑breadth personal financial counseling services at military installations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, and presentations to service members and families.
  • Consult with commanders, other providers, or staff and make referrals when appropriate.
  • Work closely with installation and branch Points of Contact to assure program scope and needs.
  • Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
  • Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle.
  • Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (secure online chat, video, teleconference).
  • Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per Department of Defense protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues.
  • Participate in in‑services/training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered).
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • U.S. citizenship; fluent English (bilingual English & Spanish if required).
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred).
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification required.
Salary & Benefits
  • Base salary range: $58,440 – $93,500.
  • Eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, life, voluntary and other benefits.
