Mercy LIFE Valley View in Elwyn, PA seeks a Personal Care Assistant for the 2nd shift (2:00 PM–10:30 PM, Mon–Fri with alternating weekends/holidays). The role provides essential personal care and health support to deaf seniors, with ASL learning required.

A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered with a 2-year commitment. The program emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care within Trinity Health PACE; prior long-term care experience and strong communication skills are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with frail/elderly or training provided by PACE if less than 1 year.
• Must be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL); ASL proficiency preferred.
• ASL learning encouraged to support deaf seniors.
• Experience in long-term care or geriatric programs is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and access to a personal vehicle.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to change; some regional travel may be required.

Position Purpose

This role impacts participants lives by providing essential personal care services and health support.

Position Details

$2500 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment paid in 3 installments.

This program provides services to a community specifically comprised of deaf seniors. All candidates must be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL).

What you will do

• Conduct ongoing participant assessments and monitoring.
• Provide assistance with daily activities, including toileting, grooming, and meals.
• Aid in maintaining physical activity and exercise routines.
• Identify safety hazards and respond to emergencies.
• Assist with recreational activities, meal service, and housekeeping.
• Report any changes in participant's condition to center staff.
• Escort participants to appointments and assist with transportation.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail/elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization upon hiring.
• Must be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL). ASL proficiency preferred.
• Preferred experience in long-term care or geriatric programs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license, insurance and use of personal vehicle.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to change.
• Some travel within the region may be required.
