Job summary

Mercy LIFE Valley View in Elwyn, PA is seeking a Personal Care Assistant for 2nd shift (Mon-Fri 2:00 pm–10:30 pm, every other weekend/holiday).

You will support deaf seniors under PACE, learn ASL, perform daily care, assist with mobility, meals, and transportation, and participate in safety monitoring. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered with a two-year commitment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of documented experience with frail/elderly population, or if less than one year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization upon hiring.
• Willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL). ASL proficiency preferred.
• Preferred experience in long-term care or geriatric programs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license, insurance and use of personal vehicle.
• Some travel within the region may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing participant assessments and monitoring.
• Provide assistance with daily activities, including toileting, grooming, and meals.
• Aid in maintaining physical activity and exercise routines.
• Identify safety hazards and respond to emergencies.
• Assist with recreational activities, meal service, and housekeeping.
• Report any changes in participant's condition to center staff.
• Escort participants to appointments and assist with transportation.
