Job summary

The Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is seeking a Day Center/Home Care Aide to provide direct personal care to participants in day center or home settings. You will support activities of daily living, ensure privacy, and assist with transportation and center programs.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (CPR preferred) and experience with elderly individuals with cognitive impairment. Strong communication and safe maneuvering of household equipment are essential.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle challenging or unexpected situations.
• Ability to safely maneuver and operate general household equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct personal care and hygiene to participants in the day center and/or their homes.
• Performs duties in a manner that assures the personal privacy and dignity of participants (HIPAA compliance).
• Assist participants with toileting, feeding and other activities of daily living as assigned.
• Performs non-skilled tasks as assigned as part of the established plan of care.
• Assist in the transportation of participants for facility outings and assist in the ambulation of participants.
• Assist with center activities, lunch service, and/or other therapies as assigned.
• Assist in conducting group classes by managing the activities appropriate to participant's level of functioning.
• Participates in meetings, in-service training, and all other required program functions.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Day Center Services. Responsibilities include but not limited to in-home and/or in-center personal care, non-skilled treatments, assisting with toileting, feeding, recreational activities, and escorting participants to and from physician appointments or other services outside of the PACE GNO ADHC.

Working Conditions:

• Excellent to poor lighting in working environment.
• Potential exposure to patient blood/body fluids.
• Contact with patients under variety of circumstances i.e. Irrational, hostile, aggressive, grieving, actively dying, end-of-life care.
• Subject to frequent interruptions and distractions within the work environment
• Probability for unexpected crisis situation to occur.
