Job summary

Golden Years Homemakers & Companions, Inc. in Bristol, CT is seeking hourly caregivers for full-time or part-time roles. Bilingual preferred, with a vehicle and valid license/insurance.

You will provide personal care and homemaker services under the direction of the Care Coordinator, serving assigned clients to maintain comfort and wellbeing. The role includes meal prep, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and assistance with daily living activities, with emphasis on safety and infection

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Minimum of six (6) months work experience in a supervised setting, preferably health care facility.
• Experience providing care to elderly or disabled persons in the home setting.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written Plan of Care.
• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable means of transportation to/from all assignments.
• Valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Performs household services essential to health care at home, including meal preparation/feeding, laundry, light housekeeping, and reminding patients to take medications.
• Performs personal care activities: bathing, shampooing, skin/nail care, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing.
• Performs routine housekeeping duties: laundry, changing bed linens, vacuuming, groceries, errands, and accompanying patient to appointments.
• Reports changes in the client’s condition to the Care Coordinator.
• Documents care provided and completes client records.
• Promotes safety and infection control; notifies supervisor of educational needs.
• Communicates with agency staff and attends meetings as requested.
• Maintains confidentiality and completes annual skills competency validation.

Position Summary:

We are looking for hourly caregivers for Bristol, Full-time/Part-time. Bilingual. Vehicle with valid Driver's License and auto insurance is strongly preferred. Must be dependable and reliable.

Provides personal care and homemaker/companion services under the direction of the Care Coordinator/Care Coordinating Supervisor.

The Personal care attendant is assigned to specific clients by Care Coordinator and performs services for clients as necessary to maintain their personal comfort.

Essential Functions:

• Performs household services essential to health care at home, including but not limited to:

• Performs routine housekeeping duties including but not limited to:
  • Laundry
  • Changing of bed linens
  • Vacuuming/dusting
  • Grocery shopping, errands
  • Accompanies patient to scheduled appointments and social activities
• Reports any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the Care Coordinator.
• Documents care provided and completes the forms required for the client's records. Completes the appropriate records to document care given and pertinent observations.
• Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following Agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Care Coordinator.
• Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment. Does not use equipment until orientation about its operation has been provided. Notifies supervisor of educational needs.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the agency staff through verbal reports, participation in staff meetings, and team conferences, as requested.
• Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Successfully completes annual skills competency validation.
• Attends in-service programs to meet compliance requirements.

Physical/Environmental Demands:

• Lift/push/pull 50-75 lbs on a frequent basis.
• Frequent stooping, twisting, turning, and bending.
• Elevated risk of exposure to infectious processes.
• Use of transfer and other household equipment.
