Job Description

A Personal Care Assistant is a non-licensed member of the home health care team who assists clients with daily living tasks as outlined in a written care plan. They are supervised by the Executive Director and receive scheduling from the staffing coordinator.

Qualifications

• Experience verified through references and completion of the agency’s employment and certification process.
• At least 18 years old.
• Physically able to perform duties.
• Mature, responsible, and understands patient confidentiality.
• Able to read, write, and speak English.
• Able to follow directions and report changes in client’s condition.
• Reliable transportation to and from assignments.

Essential Job Functions

• Planning and preparing meals according to dietary requirements.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment through light housekeeping.
• Providing companionship, stimulation, and accompanying clients to appointments.
• Grocery shopping and errands.
• Performing housekeeping tasks as per care plan.
• Participating in educational programs.
• House sitting and pet sitting services.
• Recording pertinent client information.
• Reminding clients to take medication.
• Assisting with exercises and personal care routines.
• Assisting with ambulation and routine bodily functions.
