Job description

Delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identifies customer needs and provides advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Works collaboratively within the branch and through various channels with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall business objectives.

Responsibilities
  1. Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects by providing needs-based assessments to grow loyalty and identify opportunities.
  2. Complete needs assessments to identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels, recommending tailored solutions for sales and service needs, including banking, investments, lending, home financing, and small business solutions.
  3. Advise clients on digital and self-serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
  4. Support customer transactions based on traffic and needs.
  5. Build new relationships within the community to grow BMO’s business.
  6. Ensure accurate data entry and lending recommendations in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  7. Apply risk management frameworks to protect assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  8. Make credit recommendations for personal lending, including home financing, following sound principles and policies.
  9. Collaborate effectively within the branch and market team.
  10. Understand customer needs and incorporate marketing promotions into conversations for strategic advice.
  11. Organize work information for accuracy and completeness.
  12. Innovate to personalize customer experiences and contribute to overall service improvement.
  13. Contribute to business results and customer experience.
  14. Work across multiple branches or channels as needed, with flexible schedules.
  15. Follow risk and compliance policies to safeguard assets and privacy.
  16. Stay informed about the financial marketplace, legal, and regulatory environment.
  17. Report suspicious activities related to money laundering.
  18. Comply with jurisdictional legal and regulatory requirements.
  19. Escalate complex issues to management and handle diverse tasks within rules and limits.
  20. Analyze issues and determine next steps, with additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience and post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • Registration to sell investment products (as applicable).
  • Lending qualifications and designations.
  • Knowledge of personal and small business customer needs and solutions.
  • Experience with retail investments and lending products.
  • Comfort with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
  • Experience in customer service or sales, with a focus on personal experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and creative response skills.
  • Good communication, organization, collaboration, and analytical skills.
