Job summary

Salus Homecare is looking for compassionate caregivers to support elderly and disabled clients in San Diego. The positions cover areas such as Downtown and Central San Diego, La Jolla, Encinitas, Del Mar, and Solana Beach.

You will assist with daily living activities, personal care and mobility, while maintaining home safety and comfort. Training and certifications are provided, with competitive compensation based on care level and shift length.

Qualifications

• CA Homecare Aide Certification or ability to obtain with Salus assistance.
• TB test within 90 days of start date.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the USA.
• Ability to perform all job duties physically.
• Valid driving record and auto insurance if driving with clients.
• Fluent English speaking, reading and writing required.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly or disabled clients.
• Assist with medications, mobility, and accompany to appointments.
• Support clients with daily activities and basic household tasks.
• Assist with light cooking and meal preparation for clients.
• Collect health information from caregivers, nurses and family members.
• Report any unusual incidents to medical staff and family.
• Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.

Caregiver Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly patients or those recovering from surgeries, injuries or accidents by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating
• Assist clients with medications, ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, etc.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Help clients complete physical therapy and other recommended exercises
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop if needed
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own, including preparing meals
• Collect information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses, doctors, and family members
• Report any unusual incidents to nurses, doctors, and family members
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Qualifications

• Homecare Aide Certification (HCA) - This is a CA State requirement which involves registering as a Personal Attendant and providing Livescan fingerprints for a FBI Background check - Salus can help you with this process if you are not currently certified.
• TB Test - Must be within 90 days of start
• Must be able to legally work within the USA
• Physical capability to preform all job functions
• Safe driving record and valid auto insurance if you will be driving with clients
• Ability to speak, write, and read English is a requirement
