Job summary

3HRsome in the United States is hiring for a remote role handling AHJ permitting for a US solar company. You'll navigate building department portals and help plans pass plan checks.

You will assemble permit packages, coordinate with CAD/design, track inspections, and own permit expirations. Requires 1-3 years US solar permitting and knowledge of NEC/IRC/IBC.

This long-term remote role offers 20 vacation days, religious holidays, and monthly gross pay between $2,000 and $2,300.

We are hiring on behalf of a US solar company.

Before a single panel goes on a roof, a US building department has to approve the plans. Thousands of jurisdictions, each with its own checklist, portal, and plan checker who will reject you over a setback. You'll be the person who knows how to get through them.

What you'll do

• Research AHJ requirements: submittal checklists, fees, portals, plan set standards, fire setbacks

• Assemble and submit permit packages through building department portals, SolarAPP+, and Symbium

• Coordinate with design/CAD on plan sets and with engineers on structural and stamped letters

• Handle plan check corrections and resubmittals until the permit is issued

• Schedule inspections, track outcomes, and turn around failed-inspection corrections quickly

• Own permit fees, expirations, and revisions across the pipeline

• Build and maintain the AHJ requirements database

What we're looking for

• 1-3 years in US solar permitting, submitting to AHJs directly

• Working knowledge of NEC (2017/2020/2023), IRC/IBC, and PV fire setback requirements

• Ability to read a plan set and anticipate what a plan checker will flag

• Written and spoken English sufficient for calls with permit technicians

• Availability that overlaps meaningfully with US business hours

Bonus points

• Depth in a specific state (California, Texas, Florida, Arizona)

• SolarAPP+ automated permitting

• Aurora, OpenSolar, or basic AutoCAD literacy
