Job summary

TEACH-LA in California is seeking a Permitted Substitute Teacher to deliver high-quality early childhood development services for preschool children. You will engage with parents, maintain records, and ensure a safe, nurturing learning environment while supporting daily lesson plans and activities.

The role requires 1 year of preschool experience, appropriate ECE credentials, and a valid CA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a preschool teacher, aide, or assistant (Head Start experience a plus)
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher required
• AA degree or higher and 12+ ECE units highly preferred
• 3 units in Infant/Toddler care preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Strong knowledge of ECE theory, child development, and classroom management
• Valid CA Driver’s License & proof of insurance or reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement daily lesson plans following curriculum guidelines
• Supervise children during classroom and outdoor activities
• Conduct developmental assessments and maintain records (manual & digital)
• Prepare and serve meals; promote healthy hygiene habits
• Organize and lead educational and physical activities
• Support parent‑teacher conferences and occasional home visits
• Supervise Teacher Assistants and provide feedback
• Travel to various school locations (minimum of 15 miles)
