Job summary

Stratford School in San Jose, CA is seeking a Preschool Substitute Teacher to support classrooms when a lead teacher is absent. You will follow established routines, implement lesson plans, and create a safe, nurturing environment for young learners.

You will communicate with parents and collaborate with co-teachers and staff, assist children during meals and rest, and help maintain a clean, organized classroom that complies with safety guidelines and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• 12 ECE semester units (or 18 quarter units) including coursework in Child Growth and Development, Child, Family, and Community, Program/Curriculum.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development is acceptable in lieu of the unit requirement.

Responsibilities

• Step into the classroom when a teacher is absent, maintaining routines and a safe, engaging environment.
• Communicate daily with parents and guardians while collaborating with co-teachers and staff.
• Assist children during meals, snacks, rest periods, and personal care as needed.
• Keep the classroom clean, organized and compliant with safety regulations and licensing.
• Perform other related classroom duties and school support tasks as assigned.

About the Role

Preschool Substitute Teachers have the fun opportunity to enjoy working with a wide variety of students and implementing an array of teaching methods and techniques. Your ability to connect with young learners and execute lesson plans will help ensure the classroom runs smoothly on any day as necessary.

• Step into the classroom when a teacher is absent, maintaining the established daily routines, supporting planned learning activities, and providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children feel supported and cared for.




• Communicate daily with parents and guardians while collaborating closely with co-teachers and school staff




• Assist children during meals, snacks, rest periods, and routine personal care (including toileting and diaper changing as needed)




• Keep the classroom clean, organized, and compliant with all safety regulations and licensing guidelines




• Perform other related classroom duties and school support tasks as assigned

What We Offer

Pay range: $25.00-27.00

Position located at San Jose, CA

This is an on-call position
