Job summary

This journey-level role emphasizes accuracy in permit data, fee calculations, and effective communication to ensure compliance with City codes and ordinances.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of administrative and technical permit and plan processing experience are required, including reviewing applications for accuracy and maintaining records.
• Ability to research public records, interpret codes and regulations, and explain procedures to applicants.
• Experience handling payments, calculating fees, and reconciling receipts in a city system.
• Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate permit applications for completeness and compliance with codes.
• Process and issue building, electrical, and plumbing permits; schedule inspections.
• Determine fees, perform cash handling, and reconcile transactions.
• Enter data into the Permit Tracking System and related software with accuracy.
• Maintain inspection lists, records, and reports for the unit.
• Interact with sponsors, contractors and the public to resolve issues and provide information.
• Prepare and review records requests and manage document workflows.
• Lead staff as needed and assist in developing standard procedures.
