Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 30 college credits in related field or equivalent.
• ICC Permit Technician Certification within 12 months of appointment.
• FEMA IS-100 and IS-200 completion within six months of employment.
• Three (3) years of municipal building permitting or closely related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently processes complex residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use permit applications.
• Serves as primary permit coordinator for assigned large-scale residential and commercial development projects.
• Reviews permit applications for compliance with submission requirements, policies, and regulations.
• Coordinates permit revisions, deferred submittals, phased permits and related reviews.
• Calculates and verifies permit fees and development charges.
• Coordinates permitting activities with internal divisions and outside agencies.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

30 semester credit hours in Public Administration, Business Administration, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction Technology, or related field

ICC Permit Technician Certification

FEMA IS-100 and IS-200 completion within 6 months

Three (3) years municipal building permitting experience
