Job summary

SAFEbuilt is seeking a Permit Technician for the Glencoe, IL area to issue and track building permits, service clients, and support the municipal permitting process within our Chicago metro operations.

You will maintain organized files, collaborate with plans examiners and inspectors, and use MS Office and permitting software. 2+ years of admin or customer service experience is required; construction knowledge and ICC certification are a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of administrative/customer service experience required.
• Building and/or construction knowledge or background preferred.
• Permitting and/or municipal experience is a plus.
• ICC Permit Technician Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interfacing with all customers to service their building department related needs.
• Issuing and/or tracking permits through the permitting process, beginning with application acceptance, plan review, inspections and permit closure.
• Establishing and maintaining systems to ensure that all files, letters, reference manuals, field inspection reports, permit files, blueprints, drawings, and other data or material is maintained in an organized fashion.
• Working with plans examiners and inspectors throughout the company to develop and ensure consistent processes.

Job Requirements

• Interfacing with all customers to service their building department related needs.

• Perform a variety of duties requiring use of independent judgment and technical knowledge.
• Excellent Microsoft Office Skills and permitting software experience are a must.

Education/Experience
