City of Gainesville, FL is seeking an entry-level Permitting/Code Enforcement support role to review, route, and track permits and licenses for residential rental units while delivering excellent customer service.
You will work with the Permit Expeditor Team under supervision, handling payments, data entry, and inquiries to support efficient permit processing and compliance.

This is entry level administrative and technical work reviewing, routing, and tracking permits, code enforcement complaints, and licenses for residential rental units, while providing superior customer service. Positions allocated to this classification report to the designated supervisor and work under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classifications by its emphasis on entry level work as a member of the Permit Expeditor Team.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Below are the required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma; and one (2) year data entry and customer service experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses None.
Certifications Notary Public within six months of employment.
Certified as an International Code Congress Permit Technician within one year of employment.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess certain physical abilities and be able to withstand work related environmental conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods of time.
This is an office setting. May be required to work and attend meetings outside regular business hours.
