Job summary

BP is seeking a technically excellent engineering leader to head Facilities Engineering across the Permian asset, based in Denver. You will champion process safety, optimize surface facilities, and drive commissioning excellence to improve reliability and reduce costs.

The role combines hands-on field work (~25%), team development, and cross-functional leadership with Operations, Maintenance, and Construction to deliver integrated facility solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Civil, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in oil and gas production operations, facilities engineering, or related upstream roles.
  • Direct experience with surface production facilities ? separators, compression, metering, flowlines, tank batteries, SCADA/controls, and related equipment.
  • Strong understanding of Permian Basin production operations or analogous unconventional multi-well pad development.
  • Experience with new facility commissioning from engineering walkdowns to first oil and steady-state handoff.
  • Working knowledge of process safety fundamentals: MOC, HAZOP, PSI, and mechanical integrity.
  • Ability to spend ~25% of time in the field supporting technical problem solving and safety leadership.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, operations, maintenance, and construction teams.
  • Self-starter who drives continuous improvement and makes decisions with incomplete information when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Own facility performance and optimization across the Permian asset, improving uptime and surface efficiency.
  • Lead a team of facility engineers embedded in route teams as technical owners of surface equipment.
  • Drive commissioning excellence; ensure startups are optimized from first oil and handed off to operations.
  • Integrate facility engineering with programs like integrity management, compression optimization, and emissions reduction.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses with corrective actions.
